at this romney campaign ad slamming president obama. >> obama took a gm and chrysler into bankruptcy and sold chrysler to italians who were going to build jeeps and china. mitt romney will fight for every american job. gerri: and the left out swinging today claiming the ad is inaccurate, including joe biden who called it flagrantly dishonest. my next guest says romney has it right. here to explain, associate fellow for the national legal and policy center. great to have you back. always a pleasure to have you on the show. this all came out of a report in bloomberg. let me read you what the road and read your response. european sales, the ceos, sergio marchini, considering building chrysler models in italy, including jeeps, for export to north america. now, is that true or is that false? >> that is absolutely true, and prior to that there was a bloomberg report that did say that the yacht was going to be building jeeps in china, possibly old jeeps, so that is where the governor romney got that information. now, there was one slight inaccuracies under the romney and where he said the obama admi
any idea what was happening. all of us in the auto industry were looking at gm and chrysler. we sought to companies on the verge of failure that were going to take down the entire supplier industry. we also saw an industry that had to be restructured. bill ford is my hero. he fired in self. they put forward in a good place, so they did not have to be rescued. they laid out a map for what had to be done, and everybody had to sacrifice. neil: and the end justifies it because things are back. and is starting with president bush. i'm not criticizing, but it did not lead to a slippery slope. >> once again, the difference between this was, this was not a bailout. a bailout is when you give money to the existing guys. restructuring. the key thing that obama did -- neil: the, the bankruptcy and restructuring. >> but the restructuring was driven by the president's team. a bankruptcy court would never have done that by itself, and it is the reason i don't like the mitt romney passive approach, just turn it over to the courts. it would not have moved fast enough. it would not have taken the actio

economic news can have undesirable consequences. this week chrysler will add 1100 workers in detroit. the plant hassed a workers on overtime for months, is now adding a third crew so they can be operational for more hours in the day. it's hard to imagine these new jobs without chrysler and chrysler without the auto rescue. but because the new vehicles, these workers will be making our suvs, so while the comeback is good in the short term, it's only good on for all of us in the long time if the industry goes through a revolution that dramatically increases the efficiency and reduces the emissions of the cars it produces. want to find out what my guests think you should know for the coming week -- >> i think one of the things that a we've been discussing has been there's more drips out of the benghazi situation. there was a cia annex he is that asked for military intervention and were denied three times. unclear whether it was the pentagon, the president. who those. but i think we'll see more drips from that next week and that will continue to hit the headlines. >> we've covered bengha
romney this week. he's gotten himself into a battle with gm and chrysler. he said that chrysler is going to shut down jeep production in the state of ohio and scared a bunch of workers in the region. the auto companies have made clear that's absolutely not true. i think we've seen a little bit of desperation in his closing message. >> and we have seen a slight swing for the president in our new swing state polls. i'm sure you saw what karl rove wrote today. in the last days of the presidential race, he says they favor mitt romney. the democrats are making a mistake because they're counting on inconsistent voters who may well not turn out. could turn out be the difference in this election? does karl rove have a point? >> well, i think turnout will make the difference in this election. republicans are betting on the fact that our coalition won't show up at the polls. if you look into those early vote numbers, they already have. we have a 60,000 vote lead in the state of iowa. across the country, it's a very diverse electorate so far. there are a lot of young people voting. there are a lot
